Methodology & Data Source

The concordance data used in this converter is based on the official College Board and ACT, Inc. joint concordance tables. These tables were developed through research studies comparing the performance of students who took both the SAT and ACT, linking equivalent score ranges across the two tests.

Because the SAT (scored 400–1600) and ACT (scored 1–36) use different scales, concordance provides an approximate “crosswalk” rather than an exact mathematical conversion. A single ACT score may correspond to a range of SAT scores, reflecting natural variation in student performance across the two assessments.

Percentile data reflects approximate national percentile ranks and may vary slightly from year to year as new norming studies are conducted. This tool is intended for informational and planning purposes only. For official admissions decisions, colleges refer to the concordance tables published directly by the College Board and ACT, Inc.
